Mrs. Abigail Havens Dowden, an aged and respected lady died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Simmons, over in Jackson Twp, Fountain County Saturday. She was 82 years 9 months and 23 days. She united in marriage to James Dowden many years ago and to thi sunion a family of 12 children was born: 7 sons and five daughters. Five of this number died in childhood. George, who lived to middle age in life, died a few years ago in Alamo. There are still living James of Wesley; Sam of Wallace; Mrs Mahala Keller of Waveland; Mrs. Roxey Shuler of Hillsboro; Mrs. Ella Simmons of Wallace and Mrs. Belle Tucker of Alamo. She united with the UB Church many years ago, later transferring her membershi to the Christian Church at Alamo. She was a good Christian woman, a devoted wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor and she has gone to her reward and to meet the loved ones gone before her. The influence of the life she lived will long be felt by those who knew her best. The funeral service was conducted Monday at the home by Elder PJ Lough, interment taking place at the Weir Cemetry south of Yountsville.
